Old lady hase a 98 model V6 Vitara and the fcuking thing is playing up like a $2 watch. I have replaced idle control solenoid and valve, coolant sensor and both oxygen sensors but still no luck.

It is flashing code 46 and I can't find what code 46 is. Yes it is DEFINATELY code 46 I have checked it several times and Dave at suzisport springwood has also checked and is most definately code 46.

Any ideas????

has the vehicle been worked on recently. i know of several grands that have had thier oxy sensors unplugged, then plugged back in to the wrong sides. the vehicle will still run, but very badly.

hey , dave here .. those oxy sensors made no diff hey ?

can i suggest you disconnect the battery to clear any stored error codes , reconnect it and check it reads a code 12 , then go for a drive , then recheck the error codes.

another thing i may suggest is this , remember it also threw the code 52 , although rarely a prob , it wouldnt hurt to pull the injectors and get them ultrasonically cleaned and tested by the likes of MIS (mobile injector services) . You did say it was using excessive fuel and running badly , my suggestion of oxy sensors was something that id look into myself first before digging deeper.

also do a fuel pressure check and manifold vacuum check.

BTW the electric car is running now !!

Thanks Dave. Yes cleared it all mate and drove it around for a hour and rechecked and now it is just code 52 so yesterday I booked MIS to come and they will be here at work to do it between 9am and 2pm so I'll let you know how that goes

I'll have to come back down and have a look at the electric car now it is running

Injectors were fine Dave. Just for your info mate, found that the earth cable from firewall to base of the ICV had a break in it so put a new cable on and now it is idling good, and driving good again mate with no issues and code 12.

Thanks again for your time the other day.

Can you please tell me how you got error codes from your 98 vitara? is it the last of the boxy shape? or the first of the rounded shape? Thanks :) I'm having problems with my 1996 vitara 2000cc V6: http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic173649.php
