hey guys,
how hard is it to do a body swap from a soft top to a hard top.
I have spare body and prefer hard top body..

Is it a hard swap?

It is a pretty easy swap, just remove all mounting bolts and everything that attatches the body to chassis, then just lift up and off.
If you havent already got a bodylift, now would be a great time to fit a 2" lift.

i have just picked up a 86 1L ute, the cab is beyond repair but the motor and gear box are working just fine.
i am looking for a newer zook cut into a ute and swap motor, gear box etc over onto the ute chassie.

is there any difference in mounting points on a 1L chassie to a wide track or NT body?

hey guys i too just bought a suzuki with a body with too much to repair, looking at putting a new tub on it, can you unhook all the electrics off the engine and lift the cab off, dash still in cab??? or do you have to undo everything out of the cab?? also,how much work is doing a 1.6L vitara efi convrsion?? is it a worth while conversion?

You do not have to remove the dash, just follow any wires and cables that come from the body and attatch to chassis, and disconnect them, marking them as you go. This includes anything that attatches to engine, gearbox, fuel tank, etc as they are all mounted to chassis.

I think a 1.6 conversion is worth it, but only if you either have a lot of time/skills to do it, or a lot of money to get someone else to do it. I wouldnt attempt it if you weren't confident you know what you are doing. Also look in The Bible, plenty of info in there on the conversion.

thanks mate, im a plant mechanic by trade so im hopin it shouldnt be too much hassle to change a engine over lol, if need be ill put the engine in and take it to somone to hook all the electrics up and such. next question, im from brisbane, north side, can you give me any names of a decent auto leccie who would hoo it up for me?
