hey hey

Just wondering what methods are out there of brightening up a ute tray as some of the paint has been chipped away and is starting to rust... its a weld body not a steel tray...

I was thinking just sanding it back (just on the affected areas) and putting sum rust spary on it/spraypainting it white.. then buying a tray matt or sumthing..

in other words i really have no idea haha..

Rust convertor, wire brush, repaint.

weld body? as in style side or tub back? its just like any other panel. so if you do part of it it will look a bit off but as mentioned above, sand / wire wheel most of the rust away. the rust convert it and paint over the top again.

just put the first coat of colour on the tray after stripped down and primed looks mean

so it wouldnt look too bad if i just did the affected areas? and not the whole tub

also what paint do you use? my ute is white.. and its just the tray so i dont car about fancy colour matching

its usually pretty obvious if you only paint a patch. but depends on how good the truck is?

but the tray is dinged up pretty bad soo any paint will make a huge difference.. plus it has a few dents.. so i dont know if it would be worth going all out and doing it perfect

Probably not worth doing it perfect as it is a tray.
Wire wheel on the end of the angle grinder works fast to get rust off.
I would also paint all the inside of the tray rather than touch up a few spots.
Use 2 pack paint it is a lot tougher than acrylic and easier to apply.

I did this a couple of weeks ago on my Cruiser,
Wire wheel works a treat!..id do the whole tray properly...cus it dosent really take that long, but thats just me. and i used a wire brush on those hard to reach areas...
Then i put rust guard/converter on.
then a lick of pain and shes all good

yehh i think i will do the whole tray. it will look better after all..

i guess i can get all the paint and stuff from bunnings right? i work there and i dont even no.. can i get 2 pack paint form there?
