Has anyone got any design ideas for a tube type rear bar for an 80 Series that can incorporate an ARB wheel carrier? If anyone has any photos I would be interested in seeing them. I'm trying to keep the weight down (If you can keep an 80 Lite??) so don't really want a bumper replacement type like the commercially available ones. :?:

I've boofed 2 bumperettes recently; 1 in Pajero motokhana and 1 pre driving Simex section 2 and am sick of replacing them. I wanna keep the truck neat and possibly improve departure angles so just looking for any ideas.

Gday
If you have a towbar, you should be able to bend up something like a lux rear tubed bar which protects each bumperette, however, it will look funny, or not as good as a replacement bar.
What about using a bent bullbar, cut the top off it and use the ends/lot of the bottom part on the ass end. If its a winch bar, all the better for pulling backwards...lol...unnecessary.... we are in the Toyota section.... i forgot for a minute there...

I am looking at removing the bumperettes and replacing them with the tube bar, similiar to the Green 80 Ute in 4WD mothhly but am concerned about weather the wheel carrier will work with it or not and how I can still use a tow bar.

I'm planning on the follwing for my 80.

Remove towbar and incorporate new end of chasis plate and towbar in one (Ptrool Style) Single wrap tube that will protect the 1/4 panels, and able to incorporate a swing arm pivot on RHS. Getting Sandy at Aus4wd to make the lot. Should be tough, give better exit angle (towbar not hanging under) and get teh damn spare out from underneath.

Going to use All Terrrain 4x4 swing arm parts... Should be an interesting bit of work... Might get a photo chop done first but but maybe try to see pics of Ptrool - that rear is similar.

Cheers!
