Overdrive

Has anyone purchased an overdrive for a hilux?
Ive tried a search but had no luck, I can see plenty of rockhoppers or low range gears. The diesal lux has to rev to hard to just do 100km's and im gettin terrible fuel economy on trips.

I used to import a overdrive gearset from Japan to suit the G52 5spd gearbox that changed the overdrive from 14% to 28% great for the V6/V8 conversions but not so good for the stock 4 pot petrol or diesel
What year is your Hilux

its a 1999 hilux 3Ltr diesal its got a dts turbo on it now it has no problem's gettin over 4000rpm in 5th. which is around 120kms!

what gears does it have? maybe drop them down to 3.7 as i think it is currently 4.1
Maybe look at fitting bigger tyres.

yeh sounds like yr diffs are to short.. in my 2.8 turbo lux 120 is about 3100rpm in 5th.. still reving hard enough.. couldnt bare to drive it over 4000 rpm all the time on the highway.. is that stock?? surely they dont come from the factory revin that high in 5th at 120
maybe put 33's or 35s on it.. then when yr speedo says 100 u will be doin closer to 110..

ive got a pretty much stock 98 3.0 diesel lux with 31s and it revs just under 3000 at 100km/h. bout 3500-3700 at 120 (i think) but its definitely not 4000 at 120
