Some modification ideas, gimme some thoughts..

Some Ideas I have, wanting to run them by more experienced 4X4ers than myself...

-Racing Bucket seats and 4 point harnesses? good or bad idea?

-Racing style fuel cell - good or bad idea? (assuming range not an issue).
I was thinking it could place it anywhere I wanted for weight distribution, plus surge/starvation becomes a non issue. Also thinking twin pumps and large surge tanks.

-Tray mounted alloy radiator with big thermos - I figure no chance of damage, allows freedom in thermo size, and radiator can be as big as you like. Also removes a large heat source from the engine bay.

-Tray mounted battery

-Dry Sump?

-Weight redistribution - trying to get as much moveable weight, ie fuel, battery, radiator mounted as centrally as possible in the chassis, including as low as ground clearance would allow. Any benefit?

Thinking of applying these ideas and others into a RN46 styleside lux, that would mainly see fairly short trails and possibly comp use eventually.

With my limited knowledge of these things your ideas all seem sensible, but I can't comment on practicality. :?

I imagine the bucket seats could become a nuisance if you climb in and out a lot. But if you've got a good spotter / winch bi*ch, you may not need to! :D

Do you already have good tyres, suspension, winch and lockers?

The problems i see with nice deep buckets and a harness is that your movement is really restricted, it all depends on what sort of events you want to drive if you setting up for obc yeah its prolly ok, but for slow crawling i like to be able to lean out so i can see where my tyre is etc. if your not setting up for hardcore comp work and just as a weekend play toy your going with way to much overkill

yeah there is a point, if you got that much coin to start with to get to those sorta mods, you should have built a custom tube buggy to start with
