Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Looking to get a basic Tig welder for home B4 tax time, have found this 1 in my budget. Everybody seems to have MIG's, so thought this would be useful to have.

Also it's single phase, although it will need a 15 amp socket.

anybody have any thoughts on this machine?

seen better deals...... for that $$$$$ it should also come with the arc welding leads & have plasma ability too !

My 3 in 1 was $1200 & came with......
tig torch and a heap of spare tips and shields
plasma torch & again heaps of spare ceramic cones
the arc leads
regulator for the gas
foot controler
Canvas carry pouches for all the various leads ( 8 bags in all )

1380 is way too dear..

i just got the 200amp weldmaster for 1450 plus they threw in some free stuff as well

were getin ripped here in the west , the cheapest i got that for was 1800 i think.

Did you try Burnback welding down at Oconnor.

I got the same as Stupid head (80lsy gq) for a similar price.

They're a good machine bang for buck, I used to sell them. these guys have a huge range of spare parts and a quick turn around time.

Just wishing I had of bought one when I could have got it at cost

thats were i got it from in the end thru work, come to think of it i got a helmet and sum other stuff, which came in at 1500 from memory.

for small cig caddy welding 170 amp high frequencey for $990
or ya standard 170 for 4-500 odd

Just looked at the catalogue online, they are not AC.

The $1799 ac/dc UNITIG unit that is shown in the same catalogue looks EXACTLY the same as the cheaper units available everywhere else for about $500 cheaper. I would put money on it just being same unit rebadged.

G'day, I've got a Unitig 200amp AC/DC. It's a great machine for the price, I got mine for $1590 plus $220 for the foot controller. Because a workmate and I bought one each at the same time the rep threw in some Tig gear. The only thing I would knock it on is it doesn't quite get hot enough for 6mm ally, apart from that very happy.

You need 200A AC with pulse as a minimum to do decent alu work.

go to trade tools i got mine for $550 200 amp stick and tig leads, regulator, leather jacket ,gloves it burns 3.5 low hydrogen rods quiet well i'm a sheety by trade so its excellant for me

160 amp for ali would be minimum in my opinion. Will do a lot of home stuff but not too good for thicker bracketry etc. depends on what you want to do with it. I'd be looking at 200 amp. Duty cycle is also pretty average at 160 amps again suggesting it's limited for bigger stuff. Would be better to look for higher amperage and if possible higher duty cycle.

16AMP FUSE REQUIRED THIS MACHINE IS IDEAL FOR THOSE SMALL MAINTANCE JOBS UP TO 8MM ALUMINUM.

I woudl think this is a fairly optimistic statement at that power rating and duty cycle so would consider all their statements with a grain of salt.

Make sure whatever you get does use common consumables.

Another thing to be wary of and I'm not sure if it's possible to get a machine that doesn't do it is the post gas time. Ideally get something that allows you to cut post gas off rather than just down to 2 seconds. You might be surprised how much gas you can use when tacking some of the bigger jobs together or doing a heap of little jobs when you are dropping 2 seconds of gas every time you pull the trigger.

Even our $7k Kempi at work is bad for this post gas is min of 3 secs and can't be dropped. It's a couple of years old but apparently some of the newer models can turn it off. Worth checking when you shop around.

Have you got a link to where you got it for that price? For that price even with $500 freight it's still heaps cheaper then what i've been quoted.

I priced one from a welding shop here in Newcastle and they want $2200 for that welder and they said it has just came down from $2600.

i do have an account with them and buy a fair bit of stuff so may have got a better deal but ring him and see what he can do for you
