commo v6 in hilux clutch problem

ive got a hilux with a commo v6 in it and am having probs with the slave cylinder on the clutch.
it seems to not throw far enough at times.
also the rubber cap on the masters resivour sucked in quite alot.
it is loosing fluid but doesnt seem to be leaking???
the slave itself is very close to the passenger side exhaust manifold(nearly touching)
could this be caused by the heat from the exhaust or has someone else come across this problem????

Hi mate, I had the same problem. Once I changed to the bigger bore master cylinder from marks adapters it solved the problem. I did notice a slight seep out of the end of the slave cylinder because of the extra throw but this did not last very long though. From memory the master cylinder is from an 80 series and is 7/8 bore instead of 3/4 and the extra displacement makes a huge difference. As for the exhaust you might need to slightly re shape the pipe to be not so close. I hope this has helped. Regards, Nick.

i had a similar problem with my v6 in the lux i had the slave cylinder honed out and sleaved so it would push more fluid, it wasnt disengaging the clutch properly but that fixed my problem

Either sleeve down the slave or put the marks master in place.
I have a marks master going cheap if you like, just pm.
Also when sleeving down the slave you will most likely need to use a longer drive pin between the piston and the throw out fork.

already running the marks kit and done 3 slaves in about 1000 ks dont drive it much so it is just pi$$in me off now.
the lid sucking in over about 100ks of highway is what has me confused.
what would cause the system to vaccum? loss of fluid through a leak i could under stand but why would it vaccum?
this is why i thought heat expansion?
think im going to have to pull the bell housing out and reset the position of the slave anyway as its not real straight but im not going to name the company here, not much in their setup worked properly when i got the car

Please, go ahead and name the company, it may save another member from throwing away hard earned cash on products that are useless and profit a company that will not help you after they have your funds, if your kit does not fit and they dont care i say "BURN EM". The likes of this type workmanship are often the consumers problem once purchased, and if justified through lack of support or ownership from the manufacturer then i say let the world know. I have been through it recently when one of the more "PROMINENT" suppliers lied to me for months and months whilst my vehicle was of the road with no solution in sight, they stalled it long enough to elapse the two year "DEPT of FAIR TRADING" from taking action, $1500.00 plus freight and GST and solicitors fees down the drain, and not one part fitted, some how this was my fault, now they have the kit and my money, does the thought of chucking away your post tax dollars appeal to you then contact the Clown Reject Shop, CRS as they are often called, and once you give them cash kiss it goodbye, come on guys lets "NAME THE DUDS"

If you already have the marks kit and have sleaved the slave, I can only see that the temp from the exhaust must be having an effect, do you have extractors or is it the normal exhaust manifolds?
I wonder if the oil is being boiled off and venting out the slave cylinder (some how, just guessing) and creating a negative preassure in the resivoir.
(disclaimer I am no motor mechanic and could be completely wrong)

i had a problem with the CRS kits on another project but it was easily overcome(by me) so it didnt affect me much.
this kit came from another supplier but was already in the vehicle when i bought it (for less than the cost of a conversion kit)
couldnt justify the cost to re do the whole thing again with a reputable supplier but you will probably hear horror stories about most of the conversion kit suppliers.
depending on the application there will always be bugs to be worked out it is how the company in question deals with it that counts.

i feel for you and loosing you cash and kit they should have handeled it better, maybe cases like these are why it is up for sale now?

Well put HILUXMAD, i have had several people contact me with the same tales of woe from said company with the same results, after i sent the kit back for rectification i have not heard from them since and they have not once answered any emails/solicitors letters/phone messages/calls etc.
Having said this i have had excellent help/service over the years from several other decent conversion companys with which i had teething problems during the conversion process, all were rectified easily over the phone without lies and inuendo. CRS even protects the basic information of ownership of the company so as to prevent you from sending a letter of demand to get back what is basically yours, as my solicitor said and several reputable automotive engineers said these guys rip people off for a living and they are good at it, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE THEM YOUR CASH, end of story, sorry CRS but you have had all the chances in the world to rectify this disgrace and i will continue to warn people of your business ethics [or lack of it].

G'day, I'm running the Marks slave cylinder with my conversion without any problems. Also my extractors run very close to the slave. Getting the clutch fork throw correct is a big factor. Another thing that helped was a braided hose, less bulging of the hose means more throw of the fork. Sorry can't offer any real solutions but hopefully cancel out some possibles.
