long story short- at first i thought it was a thermostat problem, not the case. then i thought it was a head gasket problem, i dont think it is. from all the help ive had from here its sounds more likely to be a cracked exhaust port. how bad is this?? can it repaired easily??
at the moment ive got 1 bottle of cargo seal up with the water in radiator.
how hard is this to fix?? theres no oil in the water or water in the oil so im thinking its not a gasket thing, more than likely a cracked exhaust port

the paj overheated last week and we ended up putting the paj on a tilt tray to get it home to avoid doing anymore damage. the towie said he used to own a paj and that it was probably a thermostat problem due to signs of leaking under the housing. i didnt think much of what he said as hes a towie and they say lots of things, but anyway looked into it a bit further, but both top and bottom rad hoses heat up after running so i know the thermostat is opening so it cant be that.
not likely to be a head gasket as theres no oil in the water and no water in the oil.
there is water and steam coming out of the exhaust. so i asked a few qs on here (i started a thermostat thread in mitsubishi section and another thread in general chat titled motor finance wizard) i wont go into the details of the mfw thread but was told to get stuff called "car-go seal up".
its been praised on here by more than few people, so ive put 1 bottle of seal up into rad with water following instructions ive been given off here and the back of the bottle. i did this on sat just gone and so far the car has been running at normal temp and hasnt been going through water. i know this stuff is a temporary fix until we can afford to get it fixed properly.
at the moment the paj is being used to do school runs so i can use the lux to get to work.

both heads off. get them crack tested. I have heard of people getting BMW alloy heads welded and repaired so you may be able to repair the head that is cracked. An engine reconditioner will probably have contacts in this area.
Not a cheap job. well over $1000, depending how much labour you can do yourself.

If its loosing water out the exhaust, then a head or head gasket issue is the fault. Either way the heads need to be removed and tested. With any luck it may just be a head gasket leaking into a cylinder. If there is a crack it may be able to be repaired depending on the location. I would say the sealup has done a "temporary" job at blocking the leak but it will inevitably return. (It is good stuff Sealup but should only be used as a temporary fix)

For piece of mind i would have it pressure tested for any external leaks just to be sure, but it does sound like a head fault.
