Hey guys,

Went away on the weekend and had a really bad whine through the mq in 4th (top gear) under load only.. so jacked it up and was checking the uni's etc to try and find it and think if found it in the right rear wheel bearing.. sounds very unhealthy! anyway got it all apart but I really need a press to get the bearing off! Anyone know a place to get the bearing pressed off and a new one pressed on in SE Melbourne? really gotta get it done ASAP cos want to go wheelin on the weekend!! This is where im at atm..

Cheers

Craig

Most mechanics workshops will be able to do it, doesnt need any special tools.

X2 Or they can recommend somebody with a press that they use if they don't have one.

Are these the same setup as the GQ's with discs, if so i have been told that if you dont use a jig then the force to remove will cause the housing to expand (due to the bearing taper) and crack it. When i investigated getting it done no one would guaruntee that they could do it without breaking the housing. However TransdIff in bayswater said they have a jig and nearly always are ok to do. Hope this may help

I know Patrol A Part, in Lillidale offer a change over axle with the new bearing already on.

Give them a call and see if they do it for the MQ as well
