Well my zook is booked in to be complianced tomorrow but i want to clear something up first. If i get the harnesses complianced does that mean I can not return to the standard seat belts? Or can i then have either or? Does anyone here actually use harnesses on the road, as from the little bit of driving I have done with them I feel very safe but I dont like the lack of vision that they induce. If I dont get them complianced, is it legal to have them bolted in and not wearing them on the road? And if I do get them complianced, do I have to wear them on the road or can I wear the standard seat belts on the road and harnesses off?
Cheers

my mates that do drag racing have the same issues. most of them keep there original seatbelts (im pretty sure u have to any way) for onroad and have the harnesses for offroad. that way theres no compliance issues.

As highlux says, have both and use seatbelts for onroad.

Be interested if you get them complianced, there is an ADR cut off that demands self tensioners somewhere in the late 70's early 80's i believe. Pre that date, harnesses could be fitted, post that date... not possible due to tensioning requirement.
Personally i have both bolted in, use the lap sash daily, harnesses are there for play time. An even better idea i think would be the clip in harnesses, just have the D-rings bolted in, one less thing for the DoT and cops to raise their eyebrows at.

yeah well the guy was more than happy to compliance them, but i chose agaisnt it because it meant the permanent removal of the stock belts.

I think that is why people use both. I looked in to it years ago and was pretty sure that's waht you had to do, retain the retractables.Personally i have both bolted in, use the lap sash daily, harnesses are there for play time. Be wary with clip ins. Good idea but so easy to pinch
