Hey guys im new to the forum and im more of a Pajero man as i own one BUT i have been given the chance to buy a 1984 patrol L26 5spd for wait fo it $500 :D So im going to list what its got ect... massive bullbar side steps 95% tread with near new rims now this guys has owned it for the past 20 years and driven it to and from work and the odd camping trip.... its in awesome condition and the motor hasnt even done 200k yet lol..

So i guess wat i want to know is:
1. should i buy it??
2. should i part it off or keep it??
3. Are parts from GQ interchangeable with MQ??

It would be L28 not L26.

Not much from a GQ is interchangeable.

$500 is pretty good but to be honest they are not worth a huge amount anyway, picking one up for just over a grand would be fairly normal, although maybe not as well preserved as this one sounds.

Has it got air con? Also, is it LWB or SWB? imho the SWB is a lot more fun than the LWB. If it's an LWB you might as well get a GQ, but with the SWB you have the option of taking most of the roof off and making a fun toy out of it.

gday mate,

if i was you i would buy it.

Yeh its a wagon, thats a drag. But part it out.

The 5 speed gearbox alone in the truck you will get a few hundred for on ebay as heaps of them run a 4 speed.

the motor you will get a few hundred for too

if its got power steering or aircon, u can sell those for decent money.

Bullbar and sidesteps and tyres again you can get reasonable money for.

panels, same deal.

You would easily be able to sell enough off it to make a grand and thats not trying that hard either....

so if you want to buy it, buy it as you will double your money at least.

P.S. if you dont buy it i will

cheers

dunno about the SWB being more fun, you can chuck a whole lota crap in the back of a wagon and sleep in the back when you go camping...
