Hi guys, got a oil leak in my LN106 lux, with a 2.8D, and wondering if any of you can tell me where it might be coming from before I pull bits and pieces off? Its from the RHS

It also has got a intermittent knocking/ticking noise from the front of the engine.

From that pic I would assume rocker cover gasket... Easy fix. The knock i'm not so sure about.

your radiator looks like crap, with that knock, sure you havent cooked it and spun a big end?

Id say Not useing a funnel to fill the oil
Possibly a rocker gasket leak , But more like a bad filling effort and a front crank seal leak
As Oil dosent tend to travel up unless its under pressure/forced
The Knocking could be evidance of an Engine being in there but is hard to tell with all the mud

Poor filling attempt as said before , rocker cover , possible camshaft seal retaining plate.. assuming its like every other 2.8 i have opened up. and the front crank seal will definately be leaking i am yet to see one that does not have evidence of it. spend 2 dollars on a can of de greaser and go to car lovers.. clean your engine bay and then monitor where the leak starts to come from its easier to track it that way.

ps your car looks as tho it enjoys the mud somewhat , id be cleaning the core of that radiator if you value your 2.8 =]

Radiator is brand new, just don't wanna risk driving it to the car wash yet.

Spilled oil when topping it up after the leak, so not that.

Thanks, will take a look at that gasket

Can't really see from the photos but it might also be from the oil cooler manifold that the filter screws onto; looks more forward of that so so i would think crank case is more likely.

Clean, degrease amd then diagnose.

Knocking.........sounds like you have a diesel
Could be a wide range of things.

The one coming from near the headers.

I would take it down to the car wash but I don't know if it is going to cause more damage withthe leak etc.

Might just do it.
