Auto is less fun and lazy! manual you can choose correct gears, and wrong! but that can make the drive more interesting! Manual for me all the way!

Welcome to Outerlimits
I asked the same question and received an excellent PDF showing with a lot of technical data comparing automatic vs manual transmissions in various off-road settings, including graphs showing descent speed etc in different conditions.
Just send a private message to Bogged as he prefers to email the PDF individually.

rangie85, so as not too sound too negative, you'll need to provide more information:
Which auto, which car, what gears, what engine, what tyre size, what use?
Generally, autos are far superior to manuals offroad. They are NOT easier to drive, offroad, but the same effort yields a better result.
I've owned auto and manual 4WD's, and currently have one of each. I'd go auto every time in an offroad car if I had the choice.
