Hey guys,

I have just bought myself a sierra ute with a toyota 5k motor in it. I took the ute off road the other weekend and on steep angles the carbi floods and the car stalls. It is not good as i was stuck half way up hills and had to back down with the engine off before it would start again. What options do i have to correct this and stop it happening?? I have heard that putting the original 1.3 carbie back on it will help it. But want else can i do??

Cheers

I just extended the breathers inside the carb by using some lengths of fuel line. Worked a treat and never had the problems again

no photos but I think they were only an inch or two.

If you take the the air intake cover off the top of the carb, there are two small tubes that come out an angle from the edge of the carb body. They only protrude about 15mm, these are what I put the hoses onto.

I have had a look and know the tubes you are talking about. How does extending these help it not flood on angles??

probably because it stoped the petrol tipping out the vent tubes on the angles
