Hi all ive done a search but found nothing was just wondering if anyones done this conversion and any problems they come across. I spoke too the people at suzistore and they have done the conversion to the later 2l model but not the 1.6 the 2l model was pretty much a bolt in swap. Cheers

LWB and carby 1.6 vitara's have very different chassis.

Shouldn't be too hard on a LWB - easier than a carby 1.6.

Still a complex swap though - V6 vitaras (along with 2.0 4cyl vits) have wider chassis spacing, strut brace (different because of the wider chassis spacing), and a bunch of other design differences.

It'll be a challenging job, but a good outcome I think. Make sure you use the auto so then you can run transfer case gears.

Yes, it is a bolt in swap for a 2L V6 vitara that's destroyed it's valvegear...as is their want.

cheers steve so no one make transfer gears for the manual then as i would rather keep the five speed. The bloke from suzistore said i could run the five speed from a 2l v6 could i get transfer gears for that or no go?

Trust me, with the 2.5 you really really want an auto. I've not been very impressed with the off road drivability of the 2.5 manual - they seem to struggle with clutch engagement torque and modulation.

AFAIK, the output shaft of the 2.5 5 speed is different to the auto and nobody has done gears for it as it would be unique to the 2.5 manual.
