Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Just wondering if anyone could tell me what o.d the standard lower arms on a gq ut are? I know these beefed up lower control arms have been discussed a bit but I was unable to find a definite answer as to what diameter original arms are.
I want to order material today to sleave and lengthen my ones and my truck doesn't stay at my place for me to measure .

The plan is to use schedule160. Cut original ones in the middle and open about 20mm. Then weld the two pieces of the original arm at each end of the new sched 160.
Maybe put a couple of holes down the length and weld here also.

Is this an acceptable way to go? I don't need them to be bomb proof but am worried about the poor little stock arms fucking my pinion very easily!

Just cut the original tubes of at the eyelets press out the bushes and weld in your new tube .I used to run 1 inch shed 80 but the rocks bent that so stepped up to 1 1/2 shed 80 seems ok welded a piece of 1 inch shed 80 to the inside diameter of the larger tube threaded it for 1 inch BSF and welded a 5 inch piece of 1 inch BSF threaded bar to the eyelet used a nut to lock it of and bingo adjustable lowwr heavy duty control arms .Must say though the original arms dont run straight they actualy run from the diff out slightly to the chassiis so you will have to make a jig up for them its easy realy just some extra time

I plan on just using steam pipe for mine. Thats what I used for my panhard rod and it has been fine. Used the same tech as you plan. Cut orig in half (well it was broken just off center), slide steam pipe over the top, then welded it around the eyelet. I also drilled a couple of holes and puddled the in pipe to the outer one.
I already have heavy duty arms, but the tyre rubs on the front of the rear wheel arch. So have been advised been advised to lenghtem them by 20mm.

for my 7"lift i lengthened them 24mm but i have a ute so dont have to worry about tyre hitting rear of wheel arch.

OD on a 1993 GQ is 32mm. No idea of wall thickness.
