Hi guys, I'm mounting a 12000lb winch into my hilux and i don't wanna loose any approach angle, so i want to stick with my front rock bar and mount it under the radiator. This means modifying the radiator by shortening it, i DO NOT want to run it in the back if i can help it!
What i do want to know is 1. Can the plasma rope be spooled from the top of the barrel? and 2. If it can't does the rope have to run straight out to the fairlead, can it run over my bar (which is a smooth pipe just in before the fairlead)?

Have you thought about a mid mounted winch?

getting ready for toperi hey :D

i'll be installing one shortly aswell (for above reason) i wouldn't think the smooth bar would be an issue . ii was talking to a fella at work the other day that had his winch spooled on from the top (by accident i believe ) can't remember the issue he had but its now feed through the bottom as normal and works alot better ( i would think to feed it through the top you have to use it back to front ie power out to pull in ? ) but as i said i don't have one myself so till than i'm probably full of old wives thoughts :D

cheers Jai

I have thought of it ,but would prefer not to just in case my navi needs to freespool it , it would be impossible to get to!

Yeah this time i'll be prepared for toperi, last time me and my partner were the only ones without a winch between us, hence the result dead last! But not this year.
