finished turboing my dt42 on the weekend using a highmount set-up, but found that when i hooked up the return line ('T' peice into the altinator return) i went from a 3/4in line to a 1/2in line.

is this goin to cause me any headaches with back up or anything??

cheers

Will prob cause prob,, why else would car makers dump the oil in to the side of the motor with a nice big free flowing pipe.. Oil backed up in the turbo will destroy seals in no time. just weld a fitting into the sump

Check out a turboglide kit, they are as shw337 described.

I always return my to sump with a larger hose, 16-19mm.

Feed steaming hot oil from the turbo into the alternator?

Doesnt go into the alternator; just the same spot the return from the alternator goes.

This is how mine is done; havent had any issues at all.

I would'nt be putting it back to the Alternator, run it straight back to the sump, but make sure it's above the oil level.

IF the oil return get's blocked then you will do the oil seal's and possibly blow the Turbo, i got this straight from Hypergear who just highflowed mine :D

the oil return line from the alt does go straight back to sump, inside the block.

Mav and patrol are same motor.

If the oil return line gets blocked what difference does it make where it returns to?

thanks for the info guys i see there is many for and agtainst, so i will just leave it as i have been driving it hard an not had any leaks or signs of problems, turbo sounds healthy with no front to back freeplay and blows no smoke (as was a second hand kit).
