Where to put non-full size spare tyre after puncture

I'm wondering where I should be putting my non full size spare tyre when I get a puncture?

My spare is 2" smaller then my other tyres and the tread is a lot more road bias.

I guess the spare on the rear is best as steering is maintained. I have an air locker on the rear as well.

Yes/No???

you need to run it on the front
and use 2wd untill you actually NEED 4wd then back to 2wd again.

Yep, on the front, otherwise the car is continually going round a corner. On the front, and drive accordingly.

What car are you talking about? If it is permananet 4wd, I think it doesn't matter. If it is part time with manual hubs, I'd put it on the front.

If its permenant 4wd, and you have a different size spare, your asking for trouble.

Nope, not permanent 4WD. I guess putting it onto the front appears best.

why? definitely not ideal, but unless your diffs are locked I dont see a problem in short term, limp home use

If you have a LSD in the rear and you put a 2'' smaller tyre on the rear it will cause the LSD to be constantly slipping when driving in a straight line - This will reduce the life of your LSD, if it is an open center rear it won't hurt over a short distance (50 Klm) but it will make your spider gears work hard and over a long distance could cause them to "wind up" which again reduces the life. The best option IMO would be to put it on the front with the free wheeling hubs disengaged. That's m2c.

Now I think about it the best place for the wrong size spare is in the back corner of the shed and go buy the correct size for a spare
