i just installed new wheel bearings in my coily last Wednesday and have only travelled maybe 200k's, found it in the shed today with an bucket load of diff oil sitting on the floor.
Pulled it all apart the inner axle oil seal looks perfect but the bearing which was a good quality nsk bearing definitely the right one for the vehicle. It seems to already have excess play and the pressed in bearing seals are not sitting in correctly anymore.
i know my diff housing is slightly bent, i have had alot of issues with rear wheel bearings failing early. I recently straightened it but i know it is not perfect.
how bent do they have to be to cause this problem and does anyone have a straight sj80 rear housing within a few hours of the sunshine coast lol

Medium journal ball bearings have no room for misalignment. So any bearing japanese (NSK) or your better quality european (Grimace or SKF) will fail under those circumstances.
Those seals built into the bearings are removable. you could just press them back in by hand. they are only there to retain the grease. but it sounds as if they are pretty nackered anyway.
the bearings should'nt have any play in them as there should only be microns between the balls and the raceway.
i think that untill you get the diff straigtened your going to continue having this problem as there are no single row ball bearings that relate to the sizes and style you need that allow misalignment.
