So how many k's to a tank are people getting?? How many litres??

Just trying to work out how economical these little work horses are...

I get about 350-370 km to a 40 litre tank but I need a new cat convertor, that is highway driving doing 120 km a day

Runs on the smell of an oily rag (touch wood) I get around 450-500km on a tank of Premium unleaded (around $40 to fill). However I usually top up on trips so I'm not running on empty. Less than or around 400 when in 4x4 depending on demands.

a fereoza tank is 60 litre isnt it??? i would get 500k's out of a tank - hioghway driving 100k's / day

Yes Ferozas have a 60 litre fuel tank

Whats the go Kell? Have you run out of fuel? Do that, then you'll figure out how many k's you should be getting out out of a tank. Somethings not right.

My fuel gauge has been on the blink for ages, fortunely it is accurrate from about 1/2 and I use the trip-o-meter. Maybe you are experiencing an inaccurate fuel gauge possibly relating to the float??? The Feroza fuel tank is 60 ltrs and you should get up to and possibly more than 500 ks. Maybe you should carry a jerry can and drive until you run out of petrol and measure the distance

My misses has a 3cyl Charade... It takes about 20-25Litres between fills.. so we assumed it was about a 30litre tank..

When doing the long trip to Traralgon, I let it hit empty.. And just kept on going... Started to freak... Filled up at Dandenong.. just over 40Litres... Turns out it's a 45L tank, and we've been getting 300-400K's on about $20-25 worth of unleaded... And the needle hits Empty and it's only on Half.... weird stuff...

My car is just odd fullstop. One thing I dont' understand though. Right say my fuel centre was out....that still doesn't explain why I can only put 40 litres in it at the fuel pump

You'd have to run it as close to empty as you can... you may find you've still got fuel in the tank..

You've still got 20 litres of fuel in the tank. Fill it up, zero the tripmeter, fill a jerry can, drive it till you literally stop.... read the number of kays. You'll find its close to or ov er 500 k's.

I average around 10-11 litres /100km. I have got over 500km out of a tank, but was panicing I was going to run out....

Like everyone else I've never got anywhere near 60 litres into the tank- all the guages must read low or else it's not all useable?

I get about 400-500 k a tank, used to get more but put on slightly bigger all terrains recently, before i had ultra economical michelins. Then I was getting 500-550 k a tank.


Most i ever fitted into the tank was 55l, which surprised me but it was cos I was broke and couldnt buy fuel one week.

I was thinking about this last night....I have a theory....you guys can laugh if you want I dont' mind...but....if the cat convertor isn't working properly than it is in essence telling the computer that things are out including the fuel gauge and telling it that it is using more fuel than it is thus causing me to think that I am going through more fuel than I am. So ultimately when the cat convertor is replaced then the fuel gauge should go back to normal and I should be able to use 60 litres instead of 40 which my fuel gauge is telling me

hey guys..... i know that the fuel tanks on the ferozas here in the us is 11 gallons. and i also have a 2 gallon reserve.... so maybe you guys can take that to consideration... have you guys considered the fact that you guys have a reserve? how this works is that the gage is set to show bone dry on empty, but in reality you have an extra 2 gallons in the tank that the fuel gage doesnt register.... i know i was able to fit about 12 some odd gallons so i've concluded that its roughly a 13 gallon tank and that i have some reserve.

naaa I've run out when the gauge got to empty.

why is it that there is no fuel warning light ?
i thought it was some requirement of australian standards?

I've never got worse than 10-11km/litre out of my Feroza and its usually better. It doesn't seem to vary much between city/country driving, this is odd because I do tend to drive it quite hard in traffic.

As for fuel capacity E means E (meanarse dealer sold it to me with less than 400m worth of fuel in it, barely made it to the servo). It's also the smallest 60L going on 40L tank i've ever owned and takes an enormous amount of patience to 'fill'. Fill past the first click at peril! (possibly something to do with the 'relaxed' state of my rear suspension)

Who needs a fuel warning light when you have a sophisticated device in the car that sputters and brings the vehicle to a halt when your fuel is getting too low? Warning lights and reserves! Bah! For wimps!

They only put fuel warning lights on Hairdesser's cars like Rav4's & CRV's

Well my mate and I decided 2 see how far the feroza would go with the gauge sitting on empty and we did 80Km before it started 2 get a bit sluggish
I have worked out a few times that I have used less then 10L/100Km but average would be just over 10

Now I know Daihatsu's are special, so this may be out of place, but in most cars the sender for the fuel gauge is a variable resistor connected to a float. As the fuel level drops the float goes with it and changes the resistance, which affects the current flowing through the circuit and alters the position of the needle on the fuel gauge. Typically the current in the circuit is very small, because the resistance in the circuit is comparatively large, so dirty electrical connections in the circuit will throw the reading out.

Replacing the catalytic converter won't make a difference to the fuel gauge, unless the sender wire is melted on to it...

Do the trick with the jerry can and the trip meter, then learn to drive by the trip meter. Unless you've got HUGE dents in your fuel tank?

That's my 45ltrs out of 60 worth

Much the same problem appears with Rockys. Fill mine up and the needle stays on full for what seems forever, maybe 150-200km on the open road. Then the needle drops at an alarming rate till empty, but then you can drive another 150km or so before empty. I think I have about 15 litres left when needle shows empty. Rocky tanks are said by Daihatsu to be 55 litres. I have managed to put 57 litres in once. I think physical size of the sender float plays a part in the problem too. When empty, the float is sitting on the bottom of the tank, or hanging on the inbuilt stop, but there is still fuel in the tank. Overall consumption for the Rocky seems to be about 10l/100km on 9R tyres, but this is reduced drastically if my 10R Simexs are fitted.
