It has deffinately been done. Have heard of guys putting a complete VL turbo motor in (www.aus4wd.com.au - Sandy has done a couple). Think all you need is the EFI head, injectors, and wiring loom (but I know very little about motors so good chance I have missed a heap of other stuff).

Easy done, pick up a complete VL or R31 motor for a few hundred from a wrecker and throw it in. A bit of wiring stuffing around and fuel pump but simple electrical/mechanical knowledge and a wiring diagram and you'd be laughing, almost a weekend job.

And yes, it is heaps better, smoother, more power.....

I'm trying to sell a modified Skyline (lots of engine work).
Buy the whole car, drop the motor in and sell off the rest
Probably make the money back on the bits............ ;)
If interested PM me.................

I'm considering this conversion myself, I'm planning to get a 3ltr patrol towards the end of the year, I used to have a high powered vlt and had loads of fun and loved the motors, my only concern is how will the rest of the drive train hold up to one of these motors, I'm only planning on running low boost with an intercooler.

The 3ltr GQ drivetrain wont have a problem holding it all. I've seen Sandy Bowman win a burnout comp at Calder in their VLT powered shorty running 15 odd psi boost. Just watch the syncro's in the box, won't be a problem as long as you use the clutch!
