Where / what is the best 3" exhaust around Brisbane?

I need to get a new 3" exhaust on the 100 series Cruiser. (Turbo'd 1HZ)

Any suggestions for where to get one around BNE

Requirements are
3" from turbo back (replace current 2.5"/3" combo)
Prefer mandrel bend, depending on cost
Noise is OK, drone is not OK
Minimal straight through can - I dont think I would get away with no can.
I don't need stainless.

All tips appreciated.
If anyone has tried a Turbo'd 1HZ with no can I would be interested.

Thanx
Paul

tried beaudesert exhaust?
old man got one for his trol, fits well. was a good price and the fitting was cheap as, i think 150 to fit it or something, which is hell cheap when you know how much of a pain in the arse the system is out the back of the turbo on the 3ltrs.

did discover today its cracked, but that will be going back and im sure they will repair it, was surprised to see, as the welds and mounts look good.

cheers, andy

Paul I got a Beaudesert system on my 80 with the FTE in it. Got the big dump pipe and full system no mufflers. Cost $960 through local diesel shop and from memory it was the same price direct. That was not fitted but it fits up quite easily.

Noise is not too bad, typically turbo diesel throaty but you can drive around the noise peak in town and on the highway you don't really hear it. Around town is not thay noisy really but if you stick the boot in inappropriately you can tell it's a bit louder than stock. I wouldn't say it drones at all.

A mate however has the same system on his 100 with aftermarket turbo and it is definately louder than mine. To the point my wife likes and can live with ours but comments how truck like and loud his is everytime she hears it. He had his with the muffler, then removed the muffler, then put it back in, then when I got mine pulled his out again but recently put it back in again. So I would read into that that he thinks the non muffled sound is tuff and cool but not so easy to live with every day. He drives his around town more than I do also.

As far as I know the guys at Beaudesert claim there is very little performance drop with the muffler as they queried why mine was ordered without.

Talking to them when they did my 4.8 petrol Patrol I know thye make a lot of their own mufflers too to get exactly what they want.

Fit and finish is top notch too.

Cheaper option is the redback one a few have got off ebay but no real experience on longevity there yet.

Rob Bliss on the northside does a lot of custom work too but not sure if he does much diesel work. I've used him for one off unique petrol work years ago and he's also top notch.

Then Custom Exhaust Specialists towards the Gold Coast but have no experience of them at all.

I still think for overall reliability and quality for guaranteed off the shelf product Beaudesert is hard to beat.

just got a beaudesert 3" recently for my 1hdt after hearing lots of good things. got a straight thru no muffler fitted by them.. only took a couple hrs and i don't think it sounds loud at all. doesn't drone (that you can hear). I can hear the turbo a bit more but you need to listen for it.

happy so far but its only been a week :P turbo lag is hardly there any more.. boost comes on about 500rpm earlier so drive-ability has improved significantly. a lot more enjoyable to drive.

Fester.
was the system made of gold?

i really can't see $950 unfitted or fitted for that matter in an exhaust system with no mufflers.

I used to get all my exhaust work done at right price exhausts at slacks creek. They did good work, and the price was usually very good. That was several years ago now though.

depends on what you think is good and worth value. Take out $250 or thereabouts for the dump pipe factor in that it fits perfectly and they have a reputation for longevity and that all moounting points match up perfectly and it comes with all new exhaust mounts etc and I don't think it's too bad.

I've had cheaper systems done in the past and they are fine for a while then start rubbing or cracking etc.

I do like that rally car noise.
(although the anti-lag may be excessive around town)

No matter where you get your system get the dump from Beaudesert Exhaust; they remove the turbo rear manifold and custom make it to fit = much better exhaust venting :D

Whiteknight on here has a Beaudesert system fitted to his 1HZ, don't think he has a can on it........bloody loud.

certain peak bends ,tube wall thickness , length and size ,
back pressure and mufflers can change performance ,
good exhaust fitter will tune system for your truck
or get diesel tuned for the custom exhaust once finished.
Imo run a turbo flow muffler as the resonator not a hotdog muffler.
before rear axle or get them to plug different mufflers in,
to fine the sound you like.
hold the revs round 1000rpm more than you would rev you truck at 100ks,
to test. run 3" tube pipe. heat rap in engine bay for the first meter or so
get them to run as high as the can safely
and get the tail pipe coming out where it does not
catch or bend when you reverse
if you got rear guards you could go though that too.
just cut hole little bit bigger than pipe where you want it to head out
