List of Spring Combinations for Sierras/Vitaras...

Hi all.....
For those that don't know (myself included) I thought I would start a post here asking for peoples comments in what springs (leafs in particular) from different vehicles can be used on Sierras. I've heard that u can use Suzuki Carry rear Springs for the Front of a Sierra & I think I remember reading somewhere that Mazda 808? springs in the Rear of a Sierra.
If people could start a list of "what springs" they have used and from "what" Car they were pulled out of and what they put them into (Sierra &/or Vitara for Coils) and WHAT WAS THE RESULT.... Good or Bad.
Hopefully, for us novices, this will help us in building a useable offroad rig.......

im running lux fronts all round SPOA - so new perches and mounts all round.. goes great! I've removed the load leaf from the pack though and the spring rate is softer than when i had it on 2" lovells... i've compensated for that with stiffer shocks.

Can I just ask if people post up what springs they have used, that they tell us how wide they are (leaf springs). ie if they are still 50mm like original, or if they have shoehorned something wider in there.
I personally run 2" lifted rears in the back. My front is reset carry van main leaves, with a mix of 3 other leaves below them. The result is very good IMO, both on and offroad.
Oh yeah the carry van is 50mm wide like all the Sierra stuff.

from memory hilux fronts are 2.25" - so about 58mm.
some people have fitted wider leaves into stock mounts by narrowing the eyes of the leaf to accommodate the smaller mount size, but its better to put new mounts on if you go this path.
Dont forget also, lux leaves are thicker and wider than a zuk leaf, so the softness you gain from the extra length is counteracted by this. Removing the load leaf all round balanced it out more, as theres no longer a heavy engine over the leaves like in a hilux.

How's the V6 GV Coils + XL7 struts in the front go as far as Ride/Comfort Go? Any greater travel + what's your height from the bottom of the RIM to the top of the GUARD??
I'm running Dobinson HD XL7 Coils in the rear for longer travel w/o any spacers + commo shocks as well + A-arm spacer above diff but only 35mm... works a treat. I'm looking at doing something to the front as it sits down 50mm compared to the rear.
Sounds like an ainteresting set-up

The XL7 Struts.... What are they like....
Do u have the measurement for the full extension length....
I was going to go with OME Front Struts as I've been told that they have the best/ longest travel of any strut...... but I am curious to see if there is other options....

ome are longer the xl7 ones are the same length as vit ones
i got them to control the extra weight of the bar, winch and steel diff when they go on. i just fliped the mount to make them lower
i will make 80mm spacer and put the mount back when the diff drop brackets go on with the steel diff
