I'm thinking of buying a set, and want to see some reviews on these tyres.

Things like On-road and off-road performance, Road Noise, sizing (are they bigger or smaller than sidewall markings), prices.

Try the latest issue of 4wd action , has a tyre comparo or their has been a few threads discussing these tyres and testing, i have a set and apart from a lil road noise i cant fault them in any conditions

one of the best perfoming and the best value muddie I've uesd. I liked them so much we fitted them to all our work utes when they came due (4 in total)
they are quiet for a muddie and the on road wet grip is unreal,you couldn't go wrong with these.

I got them on my GQ. They have done about 2000km now they howl something terrible. They started out quiet and now they have worn they howl. Great tyre in the bush tho - really happy. Went out in the mud and they work fantastic. They seem to chip on stoney roads if you dont air down. Overall a great tyre.

I had the 33's, on a 75 ute, best tyre i've bought apart from my Simex .

They do get noisey as they get older, but most muddies do, and like others said GREAT all round tyres.

I'm buying another set for the Mav, easily the best value tyre going around.

so far so good. yeah there is some road noise but i only notice it when driving on hot mix, any rougher bitchamen and you dont notice any road noise and pretty good in the wet to. think from memory got mine for 1000 fo 4 tyres.

so far i am happy with them, only done about 500 or 600 ks with them on road, i dont think they are that loud, i will find out what they are like off road this week end i hope

Hey peoples.

Although I have a set of these tyres on my lil Feroza... I am yet to see a set of these tyres through to replacement. What sort of milage are people getting. I have heard that some people have gotten up to 70,000kms. Id be happy to get 50,000kms out of these.

The vehicle these tyres are being considered for is an 08 Patrol ST 3.0TD so tyre size will be either 265,275 or 285/70/17.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, sounds like a great price to me. I got a quote for 265/70/17 for my Patrol at $275 which sounds like a smaller size than your tyres being $287.50 each at your price.

little bit smaller than bfg,s . maxxis good all round tyre and cheap.

Great price mate, mine are 12 months old now and cant fault them. bag well, grip well, drive well on road. bit noisey now they are 12 months old but u need to expect that still have about 13mm on them too. forgot to mention its my daily to and does about 70 kilometers a day.

thought i had a puncture the other day. ran over a 2 inch nail and didnt notice it for a while took it in to be repaired and it hadnt even punctured the tyre carcass just gone into the tread block and been bent over and worn down. they seem to be strong tyres, and fantastic offroad!!

With those that are using these bighorns. What type of kms are you getting out of them? 50k? 70k?

Can anyone tell me how they measure up (actual measurements, not quoted by manufacturer). Particularly 315/75R16

have run a couple of sets and about to purchase another,
for the price i cant justify forking out more for the other brands.
recent prices were $250-$340 for the bighorn in 33s, so $1000 fitted for the set. fourbys and ace being the lowest price.

they are a bit noisy, what muddy isnt
they chip and cut, what muddy doesnt
probably get 80,000kms til they are f***ed, but can buy a new set earlier cause of the price.
they hold the bead well, never had any punctures in both sets, split a sidewall once, but would have happened on any tyre.

just my opinion

i have done about 1200 ks on mine, with one day trip so far, am really impressed, they worked well, am very happy with them, i dont know how the metric sizes work out but am pretty sure the 33s are actually 32.4-32.6 some where areound there. it is in the 4wd monthly mud tyre comparo, which i would go get and give you what they said, if i was at home but i am not sorry lol.

regardless, i thinkg they are a pretty good tyre, and you just cant beat the price.

I run 30x9.5 on my work ute, they have travelled between 35 and 38,000 km and have approx 2/3rd to 1/2 tread left. they are wearing well and havnt got much louder then when fitted,Ive rotated them once in that time. I run 35lbs on a courier v6 so i'm hopeing for about 65-70km before replacing them

Thanks for the replies fellas. Im seriously thinking of getting a set for my GU6. Ive used a set of them on my Feroza which I rated them very highly. Just wasnt sure on the kms range I would get from them.

They are good on sand too! I paid $250 a piece from bob jane for 33x12.5R15s... for the price you can't go wrong, and it makes buying a spare more affordable!

I've been running these on my Lux for a few months now and I can't fault them. Good on road, great in the wet and great on rocks. I love 'em.

WTF is going on with the suppliers of these??

My first quote - 2 weeks ago was $1195 for a set fitted, at Bob jane, apparently the last 4 they had. Called back a day or 2 later and they were not avalable - were already sold! (even before i rang the first time)

Rang some other places, got quotes ranging from $330 (at tyrepower 2 days ago) to $360.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, i went to tyrepower to get them at $330 each and they are now $395..... The guy mentioned that the tyre prices can change on a daily basis, but shit!

Rang some other places, and they are saying $395! An extra 20-30 can get ya Mickey T's!

mike, ring fourbys, and get them shipped to you, i only bought mine a month and a half or 2 ago, so it could have changed but i would think they would still have a decent price.

just bought a set today. 33x12.5x15 from fourbys at moorooka, charged me $1000 fitted. great service and price will be back again.

Bighorns are great tyres. For a mix of mud and sand here in WA they go really well. I run 33's on my GQ and have no issues running them at 10 pounds in mud and sand. They hold their bead well when hooning in the dunes and it's rare I get sand/mud in the bead unlike other tyres I've run. They bag nicely and seem pretty strong. Half the time I can't be bothered putting the simexs on they go so well in the mud. Can't recommend then highly enough. Don't know how long they last though as I've only had em on 10,000ks (mostly off road) and I'm not sure about the road noise as I'm a bit deaf but they seem quiet compared to the Simexes

I bought a set of 31's for $195 fitted and balanced at Bob Jane Frankston on Tuesday 13/4/10. I changed to Bighorns from 31" Yokohama Geolander AT-S (prior to the Yoko's, it was 31" Cooper STT). My first impression: they don't look very big at all! I know the maxxis website states that the actual size for the 31x10.5 Bighorn is 30.6", but I expected them to look a little bigger than they do! So far they seem to handle really well on road (they've done 140km!) and they don't seem very noisy either. My 4D56 turbo intercooled engine in the old Pajero is pretty noisy so most tyres (with the exception of extreme ones like claws, silverstone mt117 extreme and simex ET and JT's, etc) wont be heard over the engine (or the stereo )

I plan to take good care of these tyres (tyre pressures when 4WDing, wheel rotations and wheel alignments every 10,000km) so hopefully I can prolong their life.

I'm really looking forward to testing them offroad next time i'm out because I have heard some awesome reviews...

ok so now i have had them on for 6 months, and i think they are still great tyres, have done a few trips with them, and they have gotten me up alot, its only when i diff out that i have a problem, which ofcourse evry tyre will not help you if you diff out.

they have worn very well considering most of my driving is on the black top, have done at least 10000 ks on them, and i would say they were going to last atleast 30 more
