Do Hilux free wheeling hubs fit on an 80 series Landcruiser?

I have a set of free wheeling hubs laying around from my old hilux. Will they fit on my 80 series cruiser? And will it make any difference to eco/power. I know it will cut down the amount of wear and tear in the front end. A mate who has done it gave me mixed reports. He says it used to launch off the line, but now with free wheeling hubs it doesnt, but he can corner faster without lifting a wheel and do skids :). He is unsure if it made any difference to eco.

Anyone else done this?

take the front driveshaft out and lock the centre diff. Drive it like this for a month or two and see if you like how it handles, they handle quite differently. I have had to do this with mine in the past and much prefer the fulltime 4WD for handling and safety.
As far as economy, if you could calculate the difference, I doubt you will ever recover the cost of the parttime kit needed for the transfer case
