Outer Limits 4x4 Board

with heaps of charge in battery engine cranks very very slowly until it fires... just seems to have happened suddenly.

any ideas??

starter motor has stuck or worn brushes

What sort of charge in the battery?

What amperage/voltage is the starter cranking at?

What is the alternator charging at?

Have you given the battery a good fast charge with a battery charger then tested it independently of the vehicle?

Is there voltage drop between the battery terminal & the starter?

When you mean slow to start, what does it do?

Cold Hot?

Batteries can hold voltage but give up when load is applied.

Need a bit more info befoer anyone can help even a little bit.

if the battery is good, i would look at cables and then the starter

Could be the solenoid or dirty brushes, pull the starter out and take the back off the actual motor bit, by first undoing the two hex screws then the 8mm bolts, the assembly will come off completely, use some fine sand paper and clean the ends of the brushes and the brass comutater that they are in contact with, normally makes a masive difference.
Also check both cables on the back of the solenoid are tight.

cheers it was stuck brushes and then the contacts in the solenoid are a little choosy as for when they want to close.
