GQ lockright front

mate just asked me to ask everyone about putting a lockright in the front, as he bought a housing with one already in it.
i know there are lotsa other threads about them and i kinda know how they and search isnt friendly to me.
he just wanted to know how it would handle in a shorty, it has a LSD rear.
and how it would wear? wheater its worth pulling the front axle apart to change the centres.

If he has it and it cost $0,00 then why not use it, better than nothing.
But if I was buying one, it would be Air locker.

The LOCKRITE can make steering pretty heavy when in 4x4 as they stay locked when in a straight line then supposed to unlock when going around corners.. Particularly noticeable when going around sharp corners or in mud and can be veeery heavy on steering with big tyres. Also get a few twitches as diff re-locks when going straight foward. Sometimes you need to provoke diff into unlocking to turn corners. BUT they seem to be well built and a pretty good value for money.

Ive got one had it in for 2 years no problems works excellently very cheap have been running 35 centapeeds no worries only blow 1 cv so far that broke the pins in the locka but 20 dollare to replace very easy just driv it and love it its not that hard on steering when locked

ive got 1 in the front of my shortie. i bought it because it was way cheaper than an air locker. imho they are budget lockers, but they still work. the only downside is that they cannot be disengaged. i have been in some situations where i reckon it stopped me from maneuvering properly because it stayed locked (in mud, not enuff load on wheels to unlock). then again, there is no compressor or airlines to depend on. just my opinion.

Depends on what sort of driving you do...... if all you are doing is slow rock crawling work then they might be useable......
If you want to scream through the high country or similar they are just plain dangerous. Constant locking and unlocking on dirt tracks is not fun..... forces you to drive very slowly......... and even then its a handful....
