get one made up...
Sandy from Aus4wd, just made one for my Garret Roller made a quite a bit of difference, as i just had 2.5" which utilized all the clamps that came with the turbo.
He ended up removing all of them and making it come straight out from the turbo, (bolted on) and also put provision for my pyro and then flanged this at the bottom, to connect to the rest of the exhaust which is full 3" now..

U actually want it to be 4.5"x 3" where it meets with the waste gat exit, engine pipe in 4" to the x member, then 3" back from there.
The 4" engine pipe helps, but doesnt need to be all the way, as the gasses contract as they cool.

Thanks guys. I emailed turbo glide themselves and this is the response i got.
"3” pipe is useless on any diesel less than 8 litre. We have cast pipe 90 deg about 1 foot long finishing in 2 stud outlet. You can bolt to it whatever you please"

by its aford not a nissan
i got the full kit from turboglide , and they get pretty narky if you ask about any mods to there system , which is fair enough , they built the system to perform as they set it up and will be reliable , buttttt we always want more power
the dump pipe is 2 1/2 inch od and being cast , the wall thickness is around 5mm , i cracked my dump pipe and went about makeing another out of 2 1/2 inch exhaust , doing that alone i noticed a bit of difference , later i went to a 3 inch exhaust and custom dump pipe and it went better again , fitted a big donaldson aircleaner to help it breath and it goes even better , top mount fitted etc etc
all thats left of the original kit is the manifold , turbo and oil lines and if i was to do it all over again , those 3 things is all i would get off them
im not knocking there kit , its great , but if your after more power then the rest will hold you back

so did they supply any factual information to back that up?
or is it more the case of its cost effective for them to source and then on sell?

To be honest, the cost does not change if you remove bits from the kit.
All the components are bought in volume and are a tested DYI kit.
It was interesting it cost no extra to also have them fit it and do a before and after dyno run and adjust the tune, so this is what I did before leaving ACT. I took a run to Woolongong and watched titties down the beach while they fitted. There is a micro brewery on the beach which is well worth the visit too..Just not too many.

thanks guys probably just going to make one up myself. what sort of gt 28 is everyone using... I don't want something thats going to spool up too early and run out of steam but i dont want a lot of lag either. I'm looking at going with the ball bearing but what size exhaust and compressor wheels

I just put a journal bearing Garrett T28 from a Gtir onto a custom high mount manifold and custom dump pipe. I only have a 2 and a half inch exhaust, but this thing spools up at about 1200~ and keeps making 14psi past redline. I imagine a GT28 would come on a little sooner and mainain pressure throughout the whole rev range? They seem like a very suitable turbo for these motors.
