Did you think to contact Superior before spraying it all over the web?

I think you will find they will be only too willing to sort out any issue.

That's a pretty serious failure, I would be a bit p*ssed too.
Give them a call and let us know what they have to say.

Cheers

If I was them I reckon I'd tell you to get stuffed now.

If you rang them, discussed the problem, sought a resolution, and then they would not come to an agreement, by all means, publicise your problems as a warning to others.

However, it's unfair to slam a product or company before they have had the opportunity to rectify the problem (imagine if it's you that's done something wrong in the fitting or operation?)

Personally, I think drop shackles are a dumb idea, but I understand that superior's product is generally of high quality. give them the right to fix the problem before posting.

steve...

i did not see him bag them at all... and no matter what the outcome its good to let people know the way he did (without slagging on them).

cheers mark.

Agreed, there is no comment re them being crap, badly designed or slagging the company. Perhaps you read it wrong.
Looks to me he's simply stating a fact. Hasnt yet used them offroad, but on a ramp run they've bent.
Which I wouldnt be happy with either.
But no doubt if Superior stand by their product, they would investigate an replace.
And then if I was the OP i would be on here endorsing their actions and the fact they resloved the issue.
Talk about jumping the gun......

The tone seemed pretty negative to me, that's all.

More of a disappointed tone than a negative tone, in my opinion, he obviously bought superior cause it has a good rep.

Maybe it could be just that shackle had some faults in manufacture.

FFS!!!

the bloke sends a message saying that his X brand shackles are bent,
he didnt bag out the product, he didnt say he wants his money back, HE just posted that he freaked because they were BENT and he hasnt used them yet.

this is
NORMAL behaviour on an INTERNET forum.
I am sure if he had posted that he put a hole in the piston of his 3.0 GU and was upset, he woudl not have gotten flamed for not rinning the CEO of nissan FIRST.

i am sure that superior/s stuff breaks, bends, snaps, rusts, falls off just like eveyone elses,

and OMG, maybe, just MAYBE, their shIIt stinks just like the rest of us..

man i reserve the right to bag the shit out of any product i like, IF I have had a BAD experience with it, It everyones right to do that.

IF people didnt do EXACTLY THAT, there woudl be no such things as real world opinions and reviews.

just imagine an internet where you cannot get good and bad reviews of a product, just IMAGINE if EVERY 3.0 gu owner never posted their problems on the net and just rang nissan and complained?

got shacles bent?
got adapter kits not machined coorectly?
got " ubreakable CV's" that break
got radius arms that rip the chassis apart

talk about it online good and bad, so the companies making and reviewing the reviews on their products can work harder to make them better.

Just voicing his concern ... Nothing wrong with that.

Hope, if they are at fault, they fix it for you 60!

Let us know.

Of course there is. Saying a product is afaulty etc without actually letting the supplier have first go at dealing with the problem is not fair to the company. Good companies with good products sometimes have a faulty product. Sometimes a supposedly "faulty" product isn't faulty it has been used incorrectly.

It is all too easy to just post a one sided story on the internet bagging a product or company and get all these other people who "agree" with you and start baggibg them, telling you to take them to small claims etc etc. Suddenly a good company is the devil incarnate and that starts becoming the "truth"

this thread went to shit faster then an AIRLOCKER thread does.

mods should clean this up and let be a real thread.

Grimbo, it's not as if 60 has bagged superior and told others not to buy there. He is just concerned that the product he bought does not do it's intended job. I am sure fault will be established when he talks to them, but obviously at this stage he feels that the product does not perform it's prescribed task.

I don't think 60 or myself are jumping on the 'bash superior wagon' I have bought products from them before and never had an issue, maybe your comments are better directed at other members.

x2

I dont agree with the first paragraph, as per say, i think he had a failure of sorts ( by his part or the product) my point is that he should beable to talk about it good or bad without fear of pancard holding staunch supporters bashing him down in flames.

as for the second paragraph i agree, only recently bougth some stuff from them, and will continue to do so.

Meh, that's business. One failure in a thousand million can still get you bad publicity and if you can't handle that then you aren't cut out to run a company.

A problem like this shouldn't even happen once. Yes, personally I would contact the company first and if they sorted it I would leave it at that. But if it's faulty it should not have been possible for it to go out the door when it's an item that can be dangerous if it fails which a shackle clearly is. If your brand new Jeep caught fire on the way home from the show room you would sure as shit tell people what happened whether you contacted Jeep or not.

If it isn't actually faulty and it's a bad install or whatever, well, grown-ups reading the thread can make up their own minds about the person making the post and their honesty and accuracy. We all know there are bullshitters out there so if we think he's one of them we won't pay attention to him.

I think anyone reading this thread would be waiting to hear the resolution and other comments before reaching any conclusions at all about this company, since it has a reasonably good rep out there. So what's the harm?

Just my thoughts. I don't see anyone bashing the company here, just sane mature discussion.

I might be seeing things wrong, but it looks like the outside plate on the passenger shackle is bent, when you had normal shackles in it? maybe there is something else causing issues to start with?

my answer was to a statement about there is no problem with commenting on problems prior to contacting a business an allowing them to try and sort it out first. Nothing more nothing less.

btw when i mentioned 'fault would be established' I meant that it could be either parties fault.

Threads like this are good for business too.

How many vehicles run superior products?

How many have had issues?

How many issues has superior fixed that was not theirs.

Superior supply good products at reasonable prices. I personally don't have any of their products but have fitted quit a bit of it over the years without any issues at all.

Once we were sent the wrong panhard rod, a replacement was sent the next day and superior covered the cost of freight.

Superior have a better customer service attitude the most of the bigger companies we have dealt with. I have no doubt of a satisfactory outcome.

ditto. and for it to be noticable to the naked eye in a photo taken from that distance, would indicate that it is prob around 5mm out...

He has every right to start a thread as he did, but unfortunately it can sew the seed of doubt in some people wishing to make a purchase. If the ppl wishing to make the purchase bother to read the whole thread however, hopefully there will be a good outcome and that the outcome is written about here.
How many thousand of those shackles would be sold before one crops up that may be faulty. Unfortunately (or fortunately for server space) its only extremely rarely that someone posts up how well the product functions.

But thats todays society. Unfortunately someone being stabbed makes more headlines and money for the agencies, then someone handing in a wallet they found on the street, or someone picking up the tab at a supermarket because a pensioner was $5 short trying to buy essentials to live on.

I have driven with people running Superior shackels on 60's and 75's and have never seen them fail.
