Outer Limits 4x4 Board

ok.. long story short, replaced stuffed cv's in front along with brass bushes on inside of hubs (this is where the axle going through the hub would rub against on the inside)

However these have only lasted around 7 months (maybe 10,000km's if that)

I suspect it is an issue with too much movement in the axle/cv allowing the cv to ride "out" and wear against the bush more than it should... before replacing again thought I might ask if anyone else has come across this and how to fix it?

(My only thought is that perhaps the axle wasn't properly installed on to the locking ring inside the diff allowing it to slide in and out when corneringwearing the bush prematurely)

wouldn't think so, the bush face is wearing evenly and it is right at the end after the cv.

I could be wrong but suspect the cv would compensate for the bend and allow the axle to sit correctly? Thanks for the suggestion though I will check it out

notice u have a 91 model...these have short c/v's, as opposed to the 93+ which have longer ones by 4mm...if u get longer ones, there is 4mm float....a pair lf later drive plates fixes this if you buy cheap c/v's, they will break easily....best value for money new c/v is repco ntn brand. about 200 bux a side....

I bought the CV's through 4x4 Systems here in adelaide. Is the drive plate the piece that bolts to the outside of the hub (The spline goes through it and it transmits the drive to the wheel?)

Thanks for your help I suspect this may be the issue? Hopefully a new set of bushes and drive plates would fix this?

correct. Also called drive flanges.

OK, so anyone have some later model drive flangers hanging around????
