Well I finally pulled my finger out and starting fitting up a turbo to the lux, but ive struck a problem and need some advice...

Im using the standard manifold and turbo off a surf and trying to fit it to my 2.8 hilux, but don't seem to have enogh space between the inlet and the two "pipes" on the back of my AC compressor which I believe to be factory fitted...?

Can I just swap the top part of my compressor for one that doesnt have these on the back of it or is it not that simple...?

Has any1 else had this problem when fitting a CT20 and what was your solution...?

yeah, looks like you may need to get a different compressor.

i had same problem when fitting mine, but i also had a different compressor than the one you have,
mine wasnt factory, but i was able to turn the compressor on its side as it was aftermarket and had
mount holes all round it. but i have since pissed the whole thing off now.

i think your best bet is to source one from a surf as the valve things are in the front.
or try and fit a really short and tight silicone bend in there .

here is a factory surf one in this picture, for reference.

Mine has the same H and L side ports as yours, I just cut the port off and welded it up, then fitted that port to the top side of the A/C pipe therefor both ports would be next to each other.

you could go to the wreckers and try and get a different top plate for the compressor. I have seen several different variations on toyota compressors. you would need to have A/C regassed then.
try modding the A/C bracket so the compressor is further away from the engine, or lower down if there is room. I would try and avoid the tight elbow on the turbo inlet

Thanks for the replys everone.

I think Im going to try and source a different topplate/compressor from a wrecker on sat morning. I think this option will involve the least stuffing around which means i can get my car back on the road soon...hopefully...

Thanks again for the suggestions and I'll let you know how I go.

mate i went to a a/c service shop they reckon all they do is cut that nipple off(which is the main nipple they use to regass your a/c) and move it somewhere else for ya, gave me a price of around $300-$400.

I'll call you after work this evening for an address/time that suits you as I dont want to put you out at all.
Also let me know what its worth to you...I dont take stuff for nothing... 6 pack of your choice maybe...? :)
