hey guys looks like ill be buying a 93 80 series with factory turbo diesel.

it goes great on the raod but ill be looking to get extra performance for towing and just general driving.

ill be fitting a front mount cooler as well as a 3 inch exhaust inc. dump pipe.

iv had a read on tuning these things, i understand it all, but one thing i cant find it where exactly is the fuel screw?

i realise that too much fuel = hot exhaust, but i plan to get a pyro and boost gauge to moniter the engine.

if someone can show me a pic of where the fuel screw is that would be good!

also with the the added cooler and exhaust i was looking at the induction piping on top of the air box, it looks restrictive and im also goin to make a larger hi-flow pipe for this.

what air filter is the best to run? is there a biger beter thing that will fit in?

with these mods and a safe tune will it be able to make 15-16 psi from the factory turbo? will this be safe to run in a factory diesel engine?

once this is done ill be putting a gas injection set up on it, has anyone got a hdt with gas, how much difference was there with power and fuel ecconomy?

iv searched high and low for answers but cant find anything!(before someone tells me to use the search button:)

i realise that too much fuel = hot exhaust, but i plan to get a pyro and boost gauge to moniter the engine. do this before you tinker with the pump, it is staggering how fast EGTs can rise. Tuning these seems to be a dark art, adjusting one screw impacts all the other settings, Id reccomend getting a diary or notebook nd write down every single adjustment you make. Once you lose track of what you have done, its hard to get it right again without help. Small adjustments can make big differences

if someone can show me a pic of where the fuel screw is that would be good!

if you seearch on here you will find lots of threads that tend to agree the factory paper filter or Donaldson filters are about as good as you will get
with these mods and a safe tune will it be able to make 15-16 psi from the factory turbo? will this be safe to run in a factory diesel engine? you will easily see 15+psi from factory turbo if you tune it up and fit boost controller. Safe?? you make the call, 15psi is regarded the safe limit. I had mine running to 22psi for about a year, but shaft play eventually saw it go BANG a week or two back, I am now rebuilding the engine coz turbo shrapnell went through the donk

once this is done ill be putting a gas injection set up on it, has anyone got a hdt with gas, how much difference was there with power and fuel ecconomy?lots of conflicting opinions on GAS injection, I personally wouldnt go to the expense, too many negative reports and too little gain, you will get some great gains with sensibl tuning and upgrades IMO

I have a 1hdt and found the best result was doing the pump adjustments as per the lcool tech section. It makes the car accelerate much smoother and becomes much more responsive for normal driving. Do that 1st,fit your pyro/boost gauges and then if still unhappy play with the fuel screw. I have a gastek kit on mine but haven't done much driving yet. Power increase is substantial. It has an egt probe so will cut out the gas if temps are too high. You will need another probe for your gauge.I ordered a dump pipe with 2 fittings from Beaudesert. My turbo is at 13psi.You may want to intercool if you plan on going higher.
