Suspension pros and cons???

My rear leafs are buggered and need to be replaced. They are/were soft with four leafs. A bit too soft maybe as I've started to wrap them (and this is with a tired 2.6lt in a 2ton body).
The replacement springs I'm looking at have an extra leaf (doing more camping trips and carrying up to 250kg extra) and is raised 2".
Question is, will this effect articulation and if so in what way?

well i got my sagged springs reset 6months back, the day i got it was stiff as then once they do abit of work, much better

. towing a heavy trailer previously would sag the back end a bit but now still sits level, cosider this as an option also. only set me back $550 including fitting, new bushes and front shackles

Did think of that but it is only $76 more for brand new raised springs.

What make spings you looking at. I had heavy duty OME which gave a great ride and doubled the wheel travel

Forget the brand but supplied by Ultimate Suspensions. Think they are made in either Thailand or Malaysia (although could be confusing springs with there shocks).

Extra leaf + a lift means they'll have to be stiffer so a little less flex. They will sag and move more over time though.
Have you investigated longer spring options, best way to get more travel and smoother ride

Not at all

What mods would have to be made apart from a longer hanger

That does not have to be true, just because the spring has more leaves etc does not have to be any stiffer.
The engineering in a spring is a bit more complex than just that, how thick is each individual leaf, what style of clamps does it use, what is the quality of the alloy the leaves are made from etc
I would look at staying with a brand name for the Bravo, Old Man emu leaves are good quality and have a reputation of lasting well and still providing a comfortable ride with or without a load on board.
Your not going to gain huge gobs flex with the factory shock mounts etc (as the bumpstop will limit compression and the shock droop)
And you will still be further limited by the independant front end.
So instead of custom parts look for a locker etc (way better than flex in a stocker)

Can't they also do wierd stuff like make the leaves thicker at the front and thinner at the back, to limit wrap without making the pack too stiff?
