HZJ75 Gearbox Noise...

Hey all,
Got a 97 HZJ75 and the gearbox has started making some noise. It seems normal when driving through all the gears but when I change down gears it seems to make a whining noise... It didn't do this at all until recently and now it does it all the time.
I'm going to check fluid levels and such but thought I'd check if anyone else has come across this and can point me in the right directions.
