ok so i was out and about sunday down bunker bay, just messing around on the fire trails and ended up royally rooting my steering set up, bulk toe out and to keep the wheels straight i need to turn the wheel left 1/3. i swung it by pedders today for the $14 check over thing and they reckon i need
upper and lower ball joints
idler arm
pitman arm
control arm bushes
new cv's (apparently the clip retaining one is missing and it keeps slipping in and out?? never noticed it off road before)
and wheel alignment
all up they want 1800, of which 800 is labour

i will be sourcing parts from work at cheaper prices i hope, and will be taking the old girl off the road for however long is required to fix this myself (fork the 800 for labour)

if anyone has had any experience replacing the above mentioned parts, please post up as any tips would be greatly appreceated

cheers, cam

Welcome to Pedders.

Make sure your ball joints come with grease nipples. I bought one without (desperate on a weekend) and it didn't last long.

Be careful with balljoints & arms. I can't remember which it was, but Repco sold me one with the wrong taper. That's when I discovered Mitsubishi have a "Three Diamonds" alternative line which is price competitive, and fit.

A missing retaining clip doesn't require new CVs.

Good luck, have fun.

yeah i know pedders are excy, they are just round the corner from my place and for 14 bucks not too much of a loss, just given me an idea of what kinda needs doing

i do casual work on the weekends at supercheap, so ill be spending most of the day sourcing cheap parts lol

They're not just exxy - they recommend replacing completely serviceable parts, simply because they might become unserviceable within the next 6 months.

I've been to Pedders. I'll be desperate before I'll go there again.
