Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey guys,

Has anyone used extended shackles on the rear leafs of the Feroza?
I am looking for the pin type greasable units. I don't know the specific name but they have a pin that you pull out and the extra travel is huge. About 6". Providing you have really long shocks.

A mate has them on his Hilux and reckons that since he got these the vehicle has been a lot better off road.

Any input greatlly appreciated.

Just found the site. They are called Climax Drop Shackles
Check the site. It looks good. Now the question is do they make them for the Feroza? If not how hard is it going to make them fit...?

Have a search through the board on drop shackles, especially in the suzuki section. Gerneral consensus is they are good for posing on ramps, but otherwise useless. They require a fair bit of work to properly install.

I run extended shackles, but NOT drop shackles. General consensus is they're crap.

Longer shackles will improve travel and ride. But they are illegal and there are some negatives...

A search will quickly show how many issues there are with drop shackles......

I made some to play with earlier in the Mouses "development" and didn't like them one little bit - in fact "just plain scary on side slopes" pretty much covered it.

In fact I cut them up and chucked them out to ensure I never was temped to use them again or give them away.

As for shocks........ move the bottom mounts from under the spring plates to higher up. That solves the travel problem and protects the shock bottoms.

Mine are quite bent from playing on rocks - damm that's another thing I have to do,
