The car's got a 1 inch body lift kit + 2 inch heightened springs;
- im about to cut the front wheel arch so my bfg m/t 31x10.5 r15 will fit.....
- as all the other pics on guard cutting were on sierras...(that i saw anyway)
- has anyone got pics of their work in a vitara?
- as a rough guide how much clearance should i be trying to ensure i get between the wheel arch & tyre once its cut>?
- oh yeah and what do ppl think about guard cutting affecting the structural integrity of the front end>? any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

From what I rember of my old zook you shouldn't have to cut anything...
Might have to use a heavy hammer on the firewall but...

Its heaps different to a Sierra. Cutting the guards wont do anything to the structure, as the Vit has a setup like a normal car with the guards, I have cut guards on a Vit to fit 35", you could even unbolt them if you wanted
My 31" fit within the size of the guards so they dont need to be cut.
But as error said you will be better off with a hammer to the firewall section, that is where your problem will be.

i run 31x10.5 inch muddies on my 92 lwb al i have is 2 inch spring spacers
as the boys previously have stated youhave to cut a little away from the plastic bumper, also take a hammer to the firewall there is a seam that runs down just flatten it and a bit more should do you there, with the rear height was ok just width when the tyre would dissapear under the gard it scored the sidewall so you need to flatten the lip i just used a hammerand flattened it or you can get it rolled properly just depends how much money you wanna spend and how you want it to look good luck

thanks guys....
i actually chickened out & swapped the tyres for 30's; meaning less guard modification plus also a bit easier on the gear ratios; but i will still have to bash the firewall in & maybe trim a bit of the front wheel arch at the rear.
next thing to do i guess is to whack on the tyres & see where it kisses; then let the american screwdriver do the rest.
ill let u know how it goes
Cheers
