Drop boxes

Post by Burdy »

Ive recently fitted dropboxes to my Gu ute and wondering if u grind or modify the big washer on the back of the arm, the reason im asking is because there is only about a 5mm gap between the washer and the top of the drop box
Any pics or info would be greatly appreciated
cheers Ian

Yeah, I ground some material off these washers but they keep rotating so it doesn't really help unless you take a few mm off all round.

Dunno what brand you have, but the Superior ones have fitting instructions and they say to cut part of the washer off.

Dammit I wish I had read your post the other night, I just fitted my boxes tonight and only ground them flat not all the way around! :x

x2 with Superior's. I just cut part of the washer as per instructions, they have not moved at all to this day.

What caster readings to people have with drop boxes? I wheel aligned mine today after fitting all the suspension and it had about half a degree positive caster, I was expecting a bit more?? It has Dobinsons 4" progressive coils.

I have had a look under my truck just now and one side has rotated a bit but not much so I think you would be safe to just cut on one side.
I thought they have rotated more from memory....

Just go down 10mm from any where on the washer and cut straight across so you end up with a flat edge on the washer
