I've just done a body lift on my car (92 pajero) and I need to bend the transfer lever to make it fit - what are some ways I can do this?

Heat it up with an oxy or a BBQ and bend it, or put it in a vice and smash it with a hammer, either way you'll have to remove the shifter from the car.

If it's hot, will it bend fairly easily?

Yes it will. Just take it out, heat up the shaft with an oxy and bend.
Maybe get a mate over who knows a bit more what they are doing though.

If you can drive a car you can heat something up and bend it.

What sources of heat do you have? a BBQ flame should get a 12mm bar hot enough to bend. If your cashed up enough, invest in a blow torch and hose for a bbq bottle.

When ya bend it, depending on how much length you have to play with on either side of where you want to bend, you could hold it with 2 vice grips, or stick one end in a vice and yank it around.

Dont quench it in water, it could already be work hardened from when they initially made it, it could be sh*t steel and go brittle and break.

My neighbour stuck mine in his vice on a big heavy bench, slid a length of pipe over the end and applied force.

I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it.

I cut and welded mine, seem to be the easiest at the time.
