ive taken the old shackels off my truck and put extended shackels on , but now i wanna get my truck engineered. the sets of stock shackles are different lengths. i was just wondering if the long ones go on the front or the back on a 70 series

the old man emu hj75 rears are slightly longer than the fronts, i'd assume standard shackles are the same...

Maybe you should have spoken to an engineer before buying your extended shackles, he might have saved you some cash. ;)

Either way, do you think extended shackles are a good idea? Considering they are illegal. We just took a massive kick in the nuts as a warning in NSW, maybe now might be the right time for people to start thinking about things they are doing.

Since you're in NSW, I'll type a quote direct from the NSW RTA Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Modifications:
RTA LVCOP wrote:the use of extended spring shackle plates is not permitted
That's the rule book that we've had in NSW since 1994. I don't think it could be much clearer...

If you run them on a registered vehicle, you're not only likely to be defected, but you're contributing to the problem that we've recently had with VSI 50.

umm, i think he's re-fitting the standard shackles to make the car legal again, and can't remember which ones went on which end...not complaining about extended shackles being illegal. Jesus, lay off the poor bloke!

Drop shackles are most likley going to make you ilegal again, and if you have a search round most people dont like them.

okie doke. i'l just leave the stockies on then. extended ones have to be massive anyway to give any sort of lift.
