How to test a clutch vacum booster GOT IT SORTED

Got the beasty up & running and seems to better than I thought it would be.
The vacum hose has been blocked with a bolt so the vacum assist must have shit itself somewhere. I know there is valve somwhere in the vacum line, how do I test this and is there any other test I can do before pulling the unit off.
Had one pack up once before and bought a kit, turned out it was only the small seal at the front & behind the clutch master cylinder. But you cant buy just this one seal or so I was told, seems to be the one that goes all the time.
thanks

I'm having problems with my vacum assisted clutch aswell. Havn't had time to investigate. My clutch is as good as gold at idle and low revs. when you get up around 3000RPM and change gears the clutch is stiff as rock. Its like it runs out of vacum. any1 got any ideas or a fix

Have you pulled the hose off the vacuum pump and tested it there at the revs where the problem is?
Vac pump could be on the way out??

If it was the vac pump surely the brake booster would be playing up too.....like it is on mine : ) I also couldn't find any info on how to test and isolate the boosters from the system. My clutch is stiff regardless of motor revvs and I would never of known they could be better if I hadn't had a go of one that worked...be keen to hear how you go with the fix

Again it was the front seal on the booster, three different GQs that I have a problem with come down to this little bugger and I have'nt been able to buy just this seal, $80.00 for a full kit BUGGER.
If anyone is in the seal line, this is the one
Bendix # 221-24100 EZ or E7
Would be great if we get a few of these as it seems to be the only bit that shits itself

Sounds right, same thing happened to me - i went to a clutch place and they said it would only be a small rubber seal as in their experience with GQ's thats all it ever is. I left with instructions, a $20 new seal and some rubber grease, it took me about 40 minutes on the side of the road and problem fixed. I went back with some beers for the guy and got another seal to carry as a spare.

As far as testing your vacuum goes - he did tell me to remove vac line from booster while engine running, if the vacuum tries to suck ya finger down the rubber hose then your vac is ok and IT WILL be the small rubber seal inside the clutch booster.
However if there is no sucky the finger down the hose feeling then the fault is with the vacuum itself and then it becomes a bit more serious and not so easy to fix on the side of the road.
When replacing leave clutch fluid pipes attached to the slave cyl and move it aside carefully, that way by not disconnecting the pipes you don't have to bleed the system afterwards. Hope this helps.
I'll try and upload a pic of the seal.

Thats for sure, once you take the master cylinder off you can see it at the front of the booster, held in by a spring loaded circlip. I'll give the bloke a call and see how I go.
Appreciate the help
