Warranty claim after 1-2 months

Well.... after speaking to Nissan this morning, it seems the braking issue I thought I had was not infact a brake issue... They took the drive shaft out... issue still there, then took out the handbrake assembly.... issue still there....

Nissan have concluded that my issue is most likely the gearbox or transfer case... So while I sit on my hands waiting for things to be done... I sit here thinking... should I have forked out my good money for the 08 GU.... Too late now

Hmmm, no offense, but big whoop a mass production vehicle with mechanicals assembled by hand has developed a build fault.

You have a warranty for 3yrs/100,000km for a reason. :)

I wouldn't be worried, if you knew how many times my bosses 07 Hilux has been back for major warranty issues you would freak, they are shitboxes!

Mine is just over a month old and only 3500kms and having a big problem this early. I guess with all the concerns with Nissan stuffing me around by saying if I modify car by putting in Pyro and Boost guage... its just another cause for my concern...

so you would rather have the big problem 6 months out of warranty?
I really don't see the issue here. If it ends up back there with problems every second month i could understand you being pissed off.
Your GU has a warranty and nissan are fixing it for free.

No worries, Obviously stressing more than required... Will not take up too much web space with un-necessary worry again

I guess I got spoilt with my Playdo... 4 years without an issue.

How are you getting the 16l/100km figures? My worst has been 13l/100km and best has been 11.5l/100kms. 856kms using 105l was by my calculations 12.27l/100kms.

Am I working things out wrong?

I really don't see the issue here..
I would if I intended to ever leave the city.. Theres no way I'd have any confidence in the thing after 1 month and it having a gearbox failure.. Warranty does you no good in middle of simpson.

So the phrase "Build fault" means nothing to you? Mate I thought you were just a weird bugger but you are so far out of touch with reality its not funny.

You say "build fault", I say "completely inadequate quality control processes".

I expected a bit more than a car full of rattles and intermittent electrical gremlins in the gearbox which have caused it to have no drive quite randomly when I paid 40-odd thousand bucks for my car. Oh and no fuel lines rubbing on firewall. :P

But they're built by people and they're not perfect.

Can I put forward a different scenario? If someone bought barwork from you and it cracked a few weeks later would you say to the owner "What did you expect for the money" or would you fix it assuming there's no user abuse involved because there's a possibility you did actually make a stuff up with assembly?

So would you expect more or less faults from a $20,000 car or a $60,000 car?

I still think you genuinely believe that what you read on the internet is a good slice of sample data to compile an opinion on something.

Smartarse! lol

I"m not trying to be hard on the original poster I'm pointing out that I think its just silly to expect everything to be perfect just because you bought it brand new.

Perhaps I've had a bad run with my own vehicle and a couple of new vehicles around me.

look i under stand you point too but the point of this post was so the guy could work out if its nomal and i suppose if anyone else has had trouble not long after buying one .
and on both sides of the fence its true. but they are a good 4wd but have faults including the engine being a big one and nissan dealers are all ****heads and never want to help you unless your paying for it so i suppose to end my story nissan 4wds arnt that bad but the dealers know how much trouble they can get into because it never cheap for anyone to fix a patrol

My parents have bought x3 GUs. An 00, an 04 and an 07. The 00 was by far the best out of all of them. The 04 seemed better built at first but deteriorated quickly and the 07 just started falling apart after 5000km.

I'd sooner sign on a brand new Jeep Wrangler than a new Nissan Patrol. My luck with vehicles dictates that they will always be unreliable, so I can't really go wrong.

You say "build fault", I say "completely inadequate quality control processes".
So one guy post about an assumed gearbox fault and it completely inadequate. I don't get the logic here.
Do you know how many 08 patrols were built? and how many of those had this 'gearbox fault'?

I just don't see how having to make a warranty claim after 2 months is
out of the ordinary for any make or model.
sure it may not happen to every car but it happens ALOT.
Mass produced and built by robots.

I can see how it would be annoying though.
