Hi
I have read through a few topics on solar and have a quick question.
Currently i run an 80AH battery, 40L engel and get 2 days out of my battery. Most of the time I am driving regularly so the battery gets topped up enough to keep the fridge running.
I want to know what size panel i need to run to get moderate top up of the battery (not completely run the fridge). I have read from others with similar setups that they get by with a 40 W BP panel.
Ideally i'd like to run a 20W panel (saving $$) but not entirely sure if it will be sufficient.
Cheers
Dane

40 W solar panel and engel

First the fridge requirements:
12 volts x 2.5 amps x 24 hours = 720 watts of power per day needed.
Now what the panel will do:
40 watt panel x 6 (conservative) hour/day of sunlight = 240 watts per day generated.

George Carlin, an American Comedian said; "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise that half of them are stupider than that".
Also an engel should last more than 2 days on a 80AH battery dad and I both have 45ltr engels.
He has a 80AH battery, I have a 100AH. With out starting the car at all he gets about 3-4 days at 35 degrees outside temp in a fridge bag zipped up on number 2 on the fridge. I can get closer to 5. I think your battery might be on the way out.
But it will depend on weather conditions and what setting you run your fridge on.
