What's with the location of shocks on live axles being one in front and one behind?
I've noticed Hilux's have this setup and wonder why they do that. Is it to prevent axle wrap?

Yeah afaik its to help prevent axle wrap on the sprung over diff setup in hilux's. I know a few other manufacturers use this setup also but cant remember who right now.
It's adequate in a fairly stock setup but of course with softer springs more power etc its not enough so a trac bar would be required.

They won't prevent axle wrap, just damp out the humping action from it.

I've been under a few Navaras with the front/back setup.
It is to contain the massive ZD30 powerbeast.

the older rangies used this setup on the rear.
I once had a rangie owner tell me that landrover used it to increase wheel travel. at the time i was inclined not to believe anything he said, considering some of his other comments, but thinking about it, if set up correctly it should'nt hinder wheel travel.
