G'day,
I'm wondering what clutch would be best suited to the LS1 motor I'm putting in my 80 series with the H150(standard 1hz box) gearbox.
Would a heavy duty Exedy do the job or will I need an extra Heavy duty?
What brands do you recommend?

Go check the Marks website... I know a while ago they had a few come back as they where bending the ls1 flywheel. They have made a 2 piece fly wheel that can handle it now. And recomend the chev 12" clutch.
I had a chev 11" in mine that lasted 2 years of abuse before I broke it.

They told me I should use the clutch the 1hz uses but a heavy duty one? An 11" one. I've got quotes locally and they are about half the price of the marks ones...

any reason u cant run the 12" 1FZ clutch?
I have an exedy 12" 1fz clutch behind my ls1 and so far so good! i think the spline may be different in the center of the diesel clutch? wouldn't be hard to get a pressure plate made up to suit tho!

I think the spline is different to the 12" clutch. So is yours just a standard or a heavy duty one cranky?

Talk to Pete @ Textralia in Sydney. They custom make clutches for LS1's and will hold heaps more power/torque than the exedy with a nicer pedal feel. Can make the spline to suit too.

I got a 4terrain in the end they apparently have about 980ftlbs of clamping pressure and seems like the best way to go for the price. I got my mate at auto one to do a heap of research for me on custom clutches for the ls1 but to get any more clamping pressure than the 4 terrain it'd start losing drivablity. I got monday of next week so I can get the v8 sitting in the Cruiser so it's all go!

Certainly!
The photo's are off my phone that's why they are abit bodgy. Still have to finish making the engine mounts as it's only bolted onto the gearbox at the moment. The mark's kit wasn't complete either... Sent the wrong spigot bearing and was missing 2 of the bellhousing hex head bolts. Lucky dad's workshop is full of spares! The V8 is a sh!t load smaller than the 1hz was and the springs hardly went down at all once the weight was put on to them.
