I have a VP 5.0lt with a w56 gearbox, with 4.88's and 37's. Previously I have a t350 behind it with 35's and with no overdrie it sucked. I prefer the maunal becuase of the engine braking pereformance. The 5.0lt goes very well. Seem to be breaking alot with the 37's and dual t/cases :D Just did the tail shaft and bent my rear springs. Axle wrap and lots of torque

It is a tight fit. I have both a engine fan and A/C. Custom radiator, custom brackets and alot of stuffing around.

It I was to do it again I would do a v6 or smaller V8 enough power and alot more room. I would look at a Vortec chevy v6 similar power to the 5.0lt. You might event look at the toyota V8

I have no problems so far :D BUT I do not do burnouts on high traction surfaces.

If cost is a problem then do not do a conversion. It will cost you more then you think.

Thinking about it again, it you want to keep the manual look at a Toyota six (7m, etc). This would be the cheapest conversion.

cost isnt a main concern within reason of cause, i generaaly dont do burnouts on road etc, but i can be a bit hard on it on gravel, dirt and mud etc.

I put VP 5litre and t700 in mine as has been said before cooling is the hardest part due to lack of room ,,use an early vh k commadore water pump as it is an inch shorter, handbrake has to be modified were it comes out the firewall as i will hit motor u will find it hard to fit a decent engine fan without putten the fan thru radiator , i overcame this by rear mounting , u will have 2 modify left hand factory haeder ( i didny use the cast 1s not sure if they fit) as u run in2 trouble with clearence on the chassis rail, Std engine mounts that marks say to use arnt strong enufff i think , a few small probs but not that hard im haven trouble with tailshaft bindin on t700 pan at full compression 2, but im runnen gq difff ,,i think it can still be a prob with hilux diffs . only drove it up and down the road out the front befor the coil conversion and it seemed to go hard .... eitha motor ya go with im sure you will be stoked from goen from GUTLUX TO GRUNTLUX .. i have to say the injected 5l has a heaps betta exhaust note tho .....

I changed the sump on mine when I went x-over. Used a rear drop sump instead of the standard front drop sump.

The early vh k commadore water pump does this mean that all the pullies and now misaligned?? I swaped the lower 3 pully for a 2 pully one. I only run 2 belts for P/S, A/C and Alt.
