gu sub tank (did search but still have questions)

Post by M@NGO »

gday all have spent the last couple of hours going through old threads and found the info about fixing sub issues by fitting a earth strap body to chassis and disconnecting battrey to reset sub controller. i will go and do this to my 99 coil cab but... my sub light is on with pump not going and light wont turn off with switch this sounds like the same problem every one else has had, but my sub tank fuel gauge shows the tank as empty which is not right because it is chock a block full. so i just wanted to know if others had this guage problem as well ? had a look at the wiring around the tank and all looks good. any help would be great as i had planned to go to the birdsville races and need my sub and budget is already tight without an auto elec bill. so thanks again

yeah mate sub is full. to up date i ran a piece of twin core 6 mm cable between cab and chassis and disconnected batterys for two hours. gauge still shows empty and light still on, started ute light went out for about 10 seconds then came back on. and switch still does nothing and sub not pumping. ahh :x any ideas? or quick fixes (run relay and switch straight to transfer pump ?)

double check all wires for grounding issues .... and yes your quick fix will work to force the fuel from sub to main providing there is enough room in the main tank ... but I doubt this will sove your problem tho :?

mine has never played up (yet) so haven't had to trace the problem ... maybe a faulty sender in relation to tank guage?

yeah nothing different on the vehicle does sound like a wiring issue but just cant find any thing wrong. and those plugs are so hard to get apart i dont want to bust them. in the end i might have to cut them off and put new ones on so at least i can get a meter in there to test it.
