I have a brand new rear wheel bearing on what i thought was a WT axle, turns out its actually fomr a NT
Should have measured it up first bit i didnt have anything to compare it to at the time.
Is it possible to remove the new bearing without damaging it so i can save some $$? any tips?
Trying to avoid the grinder and chisel.
Also if anyone has a WT longside rear axle they want to part with in the SEQ area shoot me a pm

the grinder and chisel is the only way that i know of.
if you try heating it up, it could be damaged anyway.

If you are doing this at home, hammer, chisel, grinder, heat etc
If you have access to a bearing press it is certainly worth a try. If you need to pay for the press then it is a decison as to value (ie will it cost more than a new bearing?)
Haven't done a rear bearing for a couple of years, but I always just hit them with the grinder then BFH.

press, or put the bearing through a vice of some sort and bash the axel back through.

The bearings is only a slight tolerance fit. It should just 'tap' on and off. Its the locking ring thats going to mess you up. if you can get that off without damaging the bearing your home sweet, providing you have another locking collar to suit..
also the locking collar and seal should be the same in the NT kit.

i wouldnt bother trying to get it off. You may damage it, even if you could get a press to some how press it off. Just sell the nt axle with the new bearing.
ebay kit is only $70 for 2 sides!
I bought an axle for $55 with a shiat bearing..
